Pean’s Story

This student profile is about Pean, a CUSP sponsored student who graduated from college in 2019. Here is Pean graduating from university.

Pean grew up in a rural Cambodian village. She was raised by a single mother in a village 5 hours by bicycle from the town of Siem Reap (where Angkor Wat is).

She lived in this house during the rainy season

During the rainy season she had to move to a more remote location to work in the fields. After 9th grade, because the family was so poor, she had to drop out of school and work for 2 years.

High School

In 2011 Pean joined the CUSP dorm and started attending 10th grade.

She is extending the reach of CUSP to the very poor in Cambodia. On the weekends she teaches English on Zoom to Kavet students on the border to Laos. The average Kavet life expectancy is 39-43 years.
